Training and Development Programme: MDY Learning Cohorts 2023-24
We are now welcoming Expressions of Interest for the 2023-24 learning cohorts.
MDY learning cohorts bring together groups of museums with a shared development interest to learn through training, mentoring and networking, sometimes supported with a small grant for implementing new practices.
Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
Over four online sessions you will have the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of key concepts underpinning best practice in equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Based on a more developed understanding, the group will then explore ways of embedding best practice in museums, and then how to develop an Equality Action Plan to convert their knowledge into action.
Session 1: Understanding (understanding key themes relating to equality, diversity and inclusion including the unconscious bias spectrum)
Session 2: Building (building on your understanding of EDI we will examine specific strands of diversity, language use and approaches)
Session 3: Embedding (understand what embedding EDI looks like in the context of museums, including diversity champions, being an active ally and having difficult conversations)
Session 4: Planning (understand the fundamentals of an Equality Action Plan and how to plan for action with reference to diversity and inclusion and your organisation)
Following the sessions, each museum will receive up to 1 hour of online consultancy time with the training provider to review and progress their Equality Action Plan.
The sessions will be 10am-12pm on 16 May, 6 June, 19 June and 4 July 2023. Sessions will be delivered online via Zoom by Inclusive Boards.
The deadline for submitting your expression of interest in the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Cohort is 24 April 2023.
Please note final confirmation of all cohorts will depend on demand from museums.
