Celebrating Museums Autumn 2023
We invite people from museums across Yorkshire and the Humber to join us for Celebrating Museums – Autumn 2023 on Tuesday 28th November, at The Hospitium, York. Our focus will be on Place and Partnerships.
We will hear museums’ stories of challenge, progress and achievement, and reflect on ways that we are moving forwards together in the region.
Celebrating Museums 2023 will be jointly hosted by Museum Development Yorkshire and Arts Council England, and is supported by York Museums Trust.
The day will feature:
- Speakers from Arts Council England and Museum Development Yorkshire
- A programme of short presentations from a range of museums
- Q&A and panel discussions exploring current issues
Please join us for a day that will be informative, inspirational and reflective, sharing progress and challenges.
Members of staff from Arts Council England and Museum Development Yorkshire will be available to talk to you throughout the day.
This event is free of charge and includes refreshments and a light lunch for all attendees.

As this event is likely to be popular, and the number of places is restricted by the venue capacity, we reserve the right to limit the number of delegates attending from any one organisation. We will only limit bookings if it is necessary to ensure that as many organisations as possible are represented on the day. We may contact you and your colleagues about this following your booking.
Do you have some work that you would like to share?
Celebrating Museums 2023 will offer a range of speakers presenting brief case studies which represent their museum’s recent progress.
We will select a wide range of speakers to showcase work:
- by different types of museums throughout the region
- ranging across museum activities
- addressing Arts Council England Investment Principles in a variety of ways

You can use this form more than once, in order to propose different case studies. It is likely that we will only be able to choose one case study from any one organisation.
Please submit your proposal by Friday 29th September 2023.
We will be in touch by Tuesday 17th October 2023 to confirm whether we are able to include your case study in the day’s programme.
If we select your case study, you will be asked to prepare a 5-minute presentation to share on the day.
You will need to send us your final presentation no later than Tuesday 7th November 2023.
