XR Stories Culture and Heritage Event
About this event
What role can XR play in the heritage sector? During this event, we will hear from artists, technologists, researchers, academics and museums working in this space.
The XR Stories’ Culture and Heritage event will be a series of talks and demonstrations showcasing emerging relationships and projects between XR (Xtended Reality) and the culture and heritage sector. The event will address the relationship between the culture and heritage sectors and XR and how they can work together to overcome current and future challenges. They’ll also be a chance to network and see some interactive demonstrations of projects using XR to explore culture and heritage. This event will take place in the Guildhall, York, on 21 August 2023.
There will be a variety of intriguing talks including:
- Brian Katz (CNRS Research Director at the Sorbonne Université) ‘eXploring the acoustic history of Notre-Dame cathedral’
- Stephanie Peichert (Founder of Talkartive) ‘Whispers of the Past at Notre-dame: promoting academic research through an immersive audio experience for the general public’.
The event will feature demonstrations from projects that are part of the XR Stories demonstrators programme which explores the use of eXtended Reality (XR) technologies across the Museums, Galleries and Libraries and Music, Performing Arts, and Visual Arts Industries in Yorkshire and the Humber.
