York Museums Trust commissioned this report to provide indicative information on current and emerging schemes offered across all sectors, whether national or regional.   It also wanted to highlight whether this was widespread not only within the generic third sector, but also within the cultural sector.  Once collated, this data will then provide the Trust with the information required to make a decision about the potential development of a bulk purchasing scheme within the Museums Sector in our region.

Strategies for Sustainability Survey Report: Conservation and Collections Care in Yorkshire

Museum Development Yorkshire (MDY) and York Consortium for Conservation and Craftsmanship (YCCC) believe that they have a common interest in working towards a better understanding of collections requirements for a sustainable future, and of the respective roles of curator and conservator.  The two bodies have therefore joined forces for the first time to sponsor a survey of the present state of affairs, with the object of gaining a fact based understanding of the situation in the area’s museums and galleries, and in the cohort of conservators working in the region.

This policy is designed to create a uniform region wide approach to the preparation and deposition of archaeological archives.
