Northern Museums Volunteer Pass 2019-2021

Registration is now open for the 2019-2021 Northern Museums Volunteer Pass.

What is it?

  • One of the largest Volunteer schemes in England:
  • Over 150 participating institutions
  • Over 7,000 participating volunteers
  • Open to ALL accredited museums, or those working towards accreditation, in the North East, North West and Yorkshire and Humberside Museum Development regions.

What’s the benefit to your museum?

Raises awareness of your museum. Museums said:
“We get visitors from around the North who possibly would not normally visit. Encourages volunteers from other sites to visit us”.
“[We get] more visitors through the door, and potential secondary spends, i.e., tea room, shop & events.”

Learning Opportunities. Museums said:
“It has been a way of enabling volunteers to self develop and see how they can request support to improve their skills.”
“Reviewing own performance as individuals and as an institution. Give us some fresh ideas and keeps us on our toes “

Networking and Benchmarking. Museums said:
“We appreciate being part of a network that both celebrates and recognises the huge contribution that all of our volunteers give every year. ”
“That we can each support one another as a community – not just as museums but as organisations that are wholly committed to supporting and valuing the considerable contributions of volunteers. And that we can help our volunteers personally discover and experience the great diversity of our cultural and social life across the north of England.”
