Museum & Galleries Exhibition Tax Relief Scheme
This is a valuable potential source of unrestricted funds for Museums & Galleries to claim tax relief against the costs of design and production of exhibitions including touring exhibitions.
Charitable companies, and wholly owned subsidiaries of charities or of local authorities, that are responsible for creating the public displays / exhibitions are eligible to claim. Currently there is a higher rate of relief on exhibitions produced between 2021 and 31st March 2023. The rate will be reducing between April 2023 to March 2024 and then return to its original levels from April 2024. It’s therefore well worth exploring whether you can make a claim or how you can put processes in place to be able to claim going forwards.
