Seminar for trustees: ‘What trustees need to know’

This workshop is one of a series organised with the Association of Independent Museums for trustees across England. These free sessions will inspire and revitalise the way you work by offering fresh thinking and the opportunity to reflect and share experiences with other trustees. No matter what your background, these sessions will help you to gain confidence in your role as trustee. Join us for practical tips and the opportunity to strengthen the skills required to invigorate your board. This session is led by Adrian Babbidge. Adrian is one of the most experienced museum consultants working in the UK, withunparalleled knowledge of museum governance and will be able to offer expert advice, whatever the challenges your board faces.

This seminar aims to help trustees both understand their duties and ensure that they are equipped with the appropriate knowledge to undertake them, including what questions they should be able to answer if they are to have a good overview of the museum’s performance and health.

It will help trustees understand what creates ‘good governance’ and how they can demonstrate this to the wider world. It will explain what information trustees need to have in order to help the museum serve its purpose well and be financially resilient.

This seminar is organised in collaboration with the Association of Independent Museums and is part of the AIM Hallmarks Governance programme- https://www.aim-museums.co.uk
